One of the first things that always seems to come up at the top of many web sites I visit is a list of what is “trending” in the news. These don’t always prompt me to check these pages out, but it is interesting to see what others are talking or thinking about.
It always makes me think. What things are “trending” in our thoughts and actions today? Do the thoughts we have set before us to map out our day trend toward, “it is going to be a rough day,” “I really don’t want to do (you fill in the blank,)” “must I deal with THAT person again today?” Do they trend toward defeatist attitudes about others or ourselves? Do they trend toward lack and limitation for ourselves and others? Do we continue throughout our day to put ourselves down?
Or, are the thoughts we have chosen to have today trend toward the positive outflow of a perfect God working and moving throughout our life and affairs? Do our trending thoughts look for positive outcomes; love, peace and joy? Do we look today for the happiness of life and the delight of being with other people with whom we can share our joy? Do we look forward to see God in new and exciting places? Even when things are a challenge we can choose how we wish to continue.
What is trending on the various web pages is what other people may be talking about and affirming, what is going on within us is what we are proclaiming and what we are focused upon.
Perhaps today is a good day to really examine where we place the direction of our thoughts. We see what we look for. We experience what we seek. We can be the change in the world that we would wish to see. It begins with the direction our thoughts and beliefs are trending toward today.
Have a great day.
This is the day the Lord has made, let us be rejoice and be glad in it.
Rev. Jefferson Beeker
We live our lives one thought at a time. Let each of those thoughts really count for something wonderful.
Please join us each Sunday at 5:30 PM in our Social Hall for our Contemporary worship and Praise service, “Acts of God.” Come as you are and enjoy an hour of great music from our wonderful band and singers, inspiring messages and good fellowship.
Also, join me on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 PM for an hour of guided and silent meditation, reflection, affirmation and prayer. As always, we will share communion together. Everyone is welcome.
