Do you know that you are a work of art?  It’s true.  Just as a beautiful painting or sculpture is the spirit of God in form – so too are you.  All of you.  Each and every one of us.  Even that person who cut us off in traffic, that person who almost made us late this morning because they were taking too long to get ready, and even that person we think isn’t being fair to us at work or at school.

We are each and every one of us a priceless work of art.  A masterpiece.

Art is always an expression of the artist, what the artist sees and feels as they paint, sculpt or mold.  The artist sees with unlimited possibility and creates without boundary to convention.  The artist mixes elements and textures and creates a depth of expression unique and individual to their own vision of life.  This is how God creates each and every one of us.  God sees us each with beautiful and amazing potential for good and values each creation as perfect, just as it is.

Even great art has what some would consider to be flaws.  And when you think about it, sometimes it’s those little flaws that make the art all the more special, the more priceless.  What one may call a flaw another would see as a potential, an opportunity or a uniqueness that inspires and teaches.  We, with our limited finite minds and prejudices, don’t always see what God sees.  There’s the saying, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”   And when you stop to think about it, so is Divinity.  We are each created by a loving Spirit/God for individual expression.  The clay doesn’t tell the potter what to make, but allows itself to be molded into the perfect manifestation of the creator to take its individual place in the tapestry of all life.

The great singer and actress Ethel Waters once said, “God don’t sponsor no flops.”

So celebrate, and know with me today, and every day, that each and every one of you is a valuable, irreplaceable, priceless masterpiece created by God.
