I heard a sermon recently in which the minister proclaimed “God takes care of those who do God’s work.”  It made me think.  As we go through our lives and call upon God and God’s grace to get us through each day we often think we are being selfish for our reliance on divine wisdom.  It is never selfish when we are calling upon God to strengthen us and direct us in ways that serve God’s kingdom on earth.  There are many ways we can show our gratitude and serve our loving God.  We can be a beacon of light to others as we share a smile to someone whom we don’t even know, but who may be feeling left out of life and forsaken. We can share a kind word to the person who waits on us at the store and who may be having a tough day.  Even as we drive down the street we can lift up a prayer for those we see on the sidewalk who are struggling.  Instead of getting angry because the motorist driving in front of us is going too slowly we can offer up a prayer and kind thoughts for them.  Unbeknownst to us they may have just been given terrible news.  Perhaps a loved one is ill and they are dealing with that issue, or they themselves just received unwelcomed news from the doctor.  We just never know what is going on in the lives of other people.

We do God’s work anytime we affirm the presence of God for others and serve them as did the Christ.  We are all called to be God’s ambassadors and no two us serve in the same way.  The light of God reflects off each us in different ways.  So let us always pray for ourselves that the presence and grace of God will help to show us new and wonderful ways to direct that holy and divine light.

Affirmation: God gives me all that I need, just when and as I need it, that I might reflect Divine Light upon others.

Rev. Jefferson Beeker

We live our lives one thought at a time.  Let each of those thoughts really count for something wonderful.

Be prepared to change your thinking and change your life.  Please join us each Sunday at 5:30 PM in our Social Hall at First Christian Church, North Hollywood, CA for our Contemporary Celebration and Praise service. Come as you are and enjoy an hour of great music from our wonderful band and singers, inspiring messages and good fellowship. Those things in life that you have been seeking have also been seeking you. Now is a good time to receive them. We will lift one another to live exciting, abundant new lives of possibility and purpose.

Also, join me on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 PM for an hour of guided and silent meditation, reflection, affirmation and prayer.  As always, we will share communion together.  Everyone is welcome.
