There is a saying, if you have a cold it takes a week to get over it.  Seven days if you take medicine.  For some reason I was thinking about this quite intently recently as I was fighting the effects of a rare cold.  During my quiet meditation time one morning this thought about a cold kept interrupting my peaceful quiet.  Suddenly it occurred to me, a cold takes a period of time to play itself out so we can recover and feel better.  Taking medicine may or may not change that time frame, but it can in the interim make us feel a little better.  And then a thought about prayer hit me.  Sometimes the answers to our prayers seem to take forever to come to us.  The situation for which we have prayed isn’t being resolved as quickly as we would wish.  However, our constant prayers to God can lift us up in the interim; remind us that God has not forsaken us, and that the answers we seek are indeed being made known to us.  This time also gives us a chance to see more clearly how that answer may arrive.  New understandings of God working in our lives may be made real to us, as well as our recognizing that the answer we finally receive may look very different from the one we had thought about at first.

God is indeed the great healer of all things.  As we continue in our prayers, meditations, affirmations and praise what a joyous new world of spirit acting in our lives we are able to discover.

“To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.”      (Psalm 25: 1)

Affirmation:  “My prayers have planted seeds in God’s beautiful garden.  With patience, I see the buds of new life sprouting all around me.”

We live our lives one thought at a time.  Let each of those thoughts really count for something wonderful.

Be prepared to change your thinking and change your life.  Please join us each Sunday at 5:30 PM in our Social Hall at First Christian Church, North Hollywood, CA for our Contemporary Celebration and Praise service. Come as you are and enjoy an hour of great music from our wonderful band and singers, inspiring messages and good fellowship. Those things in life that you have been seeking have also been seeking you. Now is a good time to receive them. We will lift one another to live exciting, abundant new lives of possibility and purpose.

Also, join me on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 PM for an hour of guided and silent meditation, reflection, affirmation and prayer.  As always, we will share communion together.  Everyone is welcome.
