One of my favorite roads to travel goes over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland. It seems to go on forever as it passes over the waters below. It has always been a wonder to me that such a bridge could ever be built and that it endures through changes in weather and traffic. As I travel this bridge I am reminded of one experience on the western shore, and yet another on the eastern. One experience I am leaving, and another I am bringing into my life.
Faith is that bridge that takes us over the rough places, the raging waters, the deep canyons of life and gently places us on new ground. This bridge sometimes is long, and as we travel it the other side of the bridge often seems out of our view, and other times the bridge may be short and we see plainly what awaits us. Either way, we are lifted above the trials of life and released from the bondage of one experience and planted into the soil of a new experience. Through our faith we have willingly left what no longer serves us, and through our faith we embrace the new. There are no tolls on this bridge called faith, no detours and no traffic back-ups. Our only job is to travel the bridge with the assurance that all is unfolding beautifully for us with God’s perfect timing and that our journey will take us to a new and better destination.
Affirmation: “My faith is the bridge that opens me up to new and exciting experiences.”
