I read a beautiful story recently. A grandpa came into the living room and his grandson Freddie was in the playpen. When Freddie saw his grandpa he immediately raised up his arms and said, “Pick me up, pick me up.” Grandpa was about ready to do that when Freddie’s mother called in from the other room, “oh, no you don’t. Freddie is being punished.” Immediately Freddie’s eyes began to well up with tears as he gazed up at his grandpa. The grandpa just stood there wanting so much to pick up his grandson and love him, but he also didn’t want to upset Freddie’s mother. So, as he watched the tears flow down Freddie’s cheeks he climbed over the railing and sat next to Freddie in the playpen, taking the child in his loving embrace.

This story reminds me so much of how Jesus meets us just where we are. Nothing can keep Jesus from desiring to have relationship with us and we can know that no matter what is going on in our lives Jesus is there to comfort us.

Through whatever is happening in our lives, the joys and the challenges, we can raise our arms and Jesus will be there. We raise our arms through our prayers, we raise our arms through our affirmations of this beautiful Christ presence, and we raise our arms through our belief.  We raise our arms through our trust and we raise our arms through our devotion.  Jesus loves us unconditionally and he will never allow us to be forsaken or lonely.  In the deepest darkness, through the deepest pain, Jesus is there. In our joy and in our celebration, Jesus is there.  Whenever we stop to look, we find the Lord right where we are.  What comfort and peace this truth brings to us.

“Thank you Lord that with whatever is going on in our lives we can know that you are right where we are. Nothing can separate us from the love of your healing touch. And so it is and so we let it be. Amen.”

Devotional moment: When did you truly feel the presence of Jesus and how did that presence minister to you in that moment?

So who will separate us from the love of Christ?”   (Romans 8: 35)

Affirmation: “Jesus is always right where I need him to be.”
