For many people fear is that invisible force that can stop us in our tracks in so many ways.   We fear we will let someone down, and so rather than attempt something we simply don’t do anything. We fear we might fail if we pursue our dream, so we never take any forward action that would move us closer to that goal. Often, we even fear success because if we are successful there will be new challenges and suppose we are not fully up to meeting them?

Fear truly stops us from leading the abundant lives we would like to live.

Franklin Roosevelt said it beautifully when, in his first inaugural address, he said, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” And Eleanor Roosevelt, in my mind, put an exclamation point on her husbands statement when she said, “we must always attempt to do that thing we thought we could never do.”

A friend of mine likes to alter the word “fear” to mean “Feeling Eager And Ready.” For me, I like to remember, and take comfort in the knowledge, that what I fear I cannot do, God can do through me.

God can do amazing things in and through our lives when we get out of the way and allow God to use us. Perhaps we have suffered from the belief that life and its many events and activities have to look a certain way, and not being able to make them look that way we have simply done nothing. But being open to all that God can do through us can create a new way, a better way, a more exciting and fulfilling way. God can show us a wonderful world of discovery that we never knew existed.

It has been said, and I concur, that God can only do for us what God can do through us. God longs to bless you with an abundant life of new adventures, accomplishments and opportunities. From our limited, finite minds limited and small accomplishments are possible. From the infinite mind of God there are more possibilities awaiting us than we could ever imagine. Ever try to count the grains of sand on the beach, or the stars in the sky?  The possibilities of God in your life are equally as abundant.

Trust God. Believe God. Try God. It will change your life.

“Do not fear, only believe.” (Mark 5: 36)

Affirmation: “I decided to try God today, and everything changed.”

We live our lives one thought at a time. Let each of those thoughts really count for something wonderful.
