Some things seem to be better when they are broken in. New shoes hurt. They are binding. Break them in and they seem great, like an old friend with whom one is comfortable. Blue jeans are kind of the same way, but manufactures got smart. The fabrics are more comfortable and the fits are better. You can now even buy them already broken in. They look like the ones we used to throw away. Imagine that. Buying jeans that are already ripped and faded. No. I guess I just can’t go there.

Things that are broken in may be nice, but things that are fresh, new and pristine can be as well. Our faith can be well worn and comfortable, one that we cherish and know has always been there to sustain us, but we can also pronounce it new, as we remain open at the top to allow new revelations of Spirit to flood our being. These new revelations can propel us to new understanding of Christ’s working in and through our lives and this openness to the new is what makes our faith journey so exciting. Living our lives with a belief in new possibility that moves us in ways that we never before thought available to us is an energy and a vibration of trust in God that is exciting. The Bible reminds us that “all things are possible with God.” That possibility can either be lived out in us through our faith, or not. We get to choose.

I look back through the events of my life often as I meditate and reflect on what I imagine can be next in my life. As I do this I experience again all the wonderful ways that Spirit God has blessed and sustained me through the years. Did everything come out exactly as I wanted it to come out? No, not always. But in doing this reflection I recognize that God has blessed me even more abundantly than I could have ever fully imagined. Some things I wanted didn’t live up to my dreams, but other things took the place of those dreams and now, as I look back, I don’t think I would have had it any other way. Would I have done some things differently? You bet I would. As we grow in our faith our view of possibility changes along with that faith growth. It is exciting when we stop to reflect on our journey and how God has blessed us. We can say our faith is old because it has been with us for a long time, but it is also forever new because it is always changing, growing, becoming so much more. What once may have seemed impossible becomes possible. When God is the driving force behind our choices, our faith, our trust and our dreams, when we are in harmony with Spirit God, when we are listening to God’s still small voice within us, amazing things do truly happen for us.

Dream big, believe in possibility, reflect often on your journey and then let God show you even greater wonders than you could have imagined. God is indeed the best travel agent we could ever have.

There is always something new to learn and experience with God.

Affirmation: “I listen to the whispers of God and find amazing possibility for this, and each new day.  This is exciting!”
