Before I went into the ministry I had began my professional career as a dancer on stage in musical theatre. Like any dancer I had started preparing for this work with much training, practice and rehearsal. What a dancer hopefully develops as one goes along is technique, a solid background and form that carries one through to succeed. That technique is ones foundation. Similarly, athletes, through their practice and diligence, develop a technique and the strength to help them achieve their goals. In whatever we endeavor to do a firm foundation is key to our success.

Our technique on which we can depend as we move through our daily individual lives is our faith and belief in the promises of God. Through our prayer, meditation and worship experiences we have hopefully encountered the Spirit of God in new and exciting ways that can sustain us when times seem their darkest. This foundation of experiencing the presence of God, this undergirding of recognizing and experiencing that Divine Presence, is that beautiful assurance that reminds us that even on the cloudiest of days the sun continues to shine on the other side of those clouds. Our faith reminds us that the clouds are temporary, they will move on. Our faith also assures us that even in those cloudy times God has not gone anywhere, God has not left us. That which is in the beginning is with us still now. The clouds are a momentary blip, but the presence of God is with us eternally.

Want to work on developing your technique and faith in God? Continually affirming that you now and always walk in the Divine Spirit of God is a wonderful way to begin. Knowing that wherever you are God dwells also is the universal truth that helps to carry us forward to amazing new experiences of Spirit’s blessing and grace.  Pausing to say, “thank you God” throughout the day is another. Our scripture says “settle it beforehand in your minds.” Affirm God’s presence with you as the truth of who you are, for God will indeed provide you with all wisdom and strength.

Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.” (Luke 21: 14-15)

Affirmation: “God is my rock, my foundation is firm. I live my life today with affirmations of God’s presence in everything I do.”
