I love leading our meditation groups on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. These evenings include both guided, as well as, silent meditation time. We gather in community to rest in stillness and to let go of worldly concerns, spending time in “mindful silence.”  Most of the people who come have been doing so for years and I have witnessed amazing changes in their lives because of their willingness to connect deeply with Spirit. We also always have new people, many of whom have never done any meditation before, but they are drawn by a desire to experience still more of Spirit/God in all aspects of their lives. Everyone present comes because they desire a deeper relationship with Spirit/God and to really listen with an intention to understand God working in, through, and as our lives. As I like to tell everyone, come with an intention of what you would like to have revealed to you, or just come and enjoy the quiet. God always knows what it is that we need and require and when we give Spirit the opportunity it always rushes in to speak to us and minister to us in thrilling ways.

Gathering in our groups is great, but that connection to Spirit is also available to us whenever we desire to experience it.  In the quietness of our home, or wherever we choose to engage it.

Why should we daily come before the Spirit of God in contemplative repose? Why are we preachers always telling people to pray without ceasing, to lift up their concerns to a loving God and to connect with God in a way that is truly a dialogue, not a one sided conversation (with us doing all the talking)?

Why do we persist in doing so? Because it is important to our spirtual and physical growth to do so. Our individual souls cry out from starvation for the healing energy and vibration of all that is God in truth and light. This is why I write, preach, blog, write affirmation cards and encourage people to connect more fully with all that is the Divine Presence right where we are.

We are connected by our very DNA to a loving and giving God who pours out to us blessings beyond human comprehension. We have started our lives from perfection (God, wholeness) because we are made in and through perfection, but something unfortunately happened along the way and we have forgotten who created us and why. Why were we created? We were each created to be God in expression, a little bit of God experiencing life as each of us, walking here on earth in community that together we might bring peace, love, strength and joy to a world that has also forgotten its creation and is desperately in need of a waking up.

We come into daily contemplative repose that we may, as a wise teacher once said, wash away all mistakes, fears and troubles and having done so, fill ourselves with a new light of Spirit that changes everything.

If you only take a minute today, remember your connection with God and let it be your shining beacon of pure light. Even a little connection with God becomes a game changer for us toward the life we truly wish to live and experience.

“The people have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”    (Matthew 4: 16)

Affirmation: “The truth of God’s mighty presence shows up in wondreous ways throughout all aspects of my life today.”
