“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4: 7-8)
The observation of the 64-Day Season of Non-violence ends on April 4, the anniversary date of the death of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. (It began on January 30, the date of the death of Mahatma Gandhi). This does not mean that we no longer practice the principles we hopefully developed during this time of discernment for it is hoped that as we developed the principles of inclusion and reconciliation in our thoughts and actions that they have become a new habit we embody to live each and every day. The practice of non-violent activism and justice that Jesus taught takes nothing away from us as individuals, but beautifully adds a new energy of peace for all who choose to experience it.
When you light a second candle from the first candle it takes nothing away from the first candles light, but adds greater light because it shared its flame. This is God shining love, grace, peace and joy upon each of us that our combined light will glow still brighter to share the joy of Christ with all. This creates a beautiful ripple effect that fans out to lift everyone it touches. The wonderful thing about this ripple is that as it widens out it touches many more people than we could ever imagine. One light, one little light shared, can change everything.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” He also said, “you are the light of the world.” So, know that as a light, being added to the light of others, you make a real difference in our world, this day, and always.
Affirmation: “One light, one thought, one belief, one action for good and we can change the world.”
Rev. Jefferson Beeker
We live our lives one thought at a time. Let each of those thoughts really count for something wonderful.
Be prepared to change your thinking and change your life.
