“Listen! I am standing at the door knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come to you and eat with you, and you with me.” (Revelation 3: 20)

One of the pieces of music I love to use at our meditation service is one called “A Liquid Mind Experience.” The first piece on this recording is titled: “ Teach Me To Whisper.”

This has made me think. So often in our desire to feel connected with God, to feel that we have been heard and to convince God that our need is great, we shout to God. Maybe not audibly, but our doubt and level of hoping our answer will come is like a shout.

But shout we need not do. When we can approach God in prayer with a calm, believing attitude, and with the assurance that the God who dwells within us is always available to us, we can move to a deeper realization that we have not only been heard, but that our answer will come in a way we understand.

The last piece on the meditation CD is titled: “Lullaby for Grownups.” We can know that God responds to us as a sweet lullaby that gently ministers to us, comforts us and lifts us up. Our prayerful response moves us to being able to release our grip and our hold that the answer we await has not yet come. We can know that the answer we desire is an evolving one. Yes, the movement of Spirit in and around us is immediate after we have lifted up our prayer, that is sure. Even though our answer may not seem immediate we can celebrate that it is in process. God is not slowly getting around to responding to us, God is there, and we are moving toward allowing that answer to speak to us.

A Liquid Mind Experience. The movement of Spirit God within us is indeed a liquid experience. It is constantly flowing, moving, never stagnant. It is constantly fresh and vital, never stalled.  God is moving us to experience more, to understand more and to believe more.

Our Liquid Mind Experience is the movement of us toward God. When we don’t fight the current we naturally and beautifully relax and in doing so we experience the answers we have been seeking.

Affirmation: “I release my grip on what I think I know and in connecting with God move toward a greater understanding of God’s beautiful presence.”
