“Decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.” (Job 22: 28)
I love attending the ballet. I find the athleticism, the grace and the beauty absolutely miraculous. Recently, while I was in Washington, D.C., I attended a performance of the Suzanne Farrell Ballet Company at the Kennedy Center. I was introduced to a new ballet I had not previously seen called “Emeralds” and it was thrilling. Later I saw an interview with Suzanne Farrell in which she spoke about expanding our limits to push us into doing far more than we ever thought we could. Her quote was wonderful, “We know what we can do, but we don’t know ALL that we can do.”
This is a wonderful way for us to approach our lives each day. Yesterday had its glories and its accomplishments and it may have even had its disappointments. Yesterday may have been a day we loved so much we would love to repeat it over and over again. But today is a new day. Today is a day that was created for us by a loving God and it is not meant to be a carbon copy of yesterday. We know all about yesterday, but what about today? Yes, we know what we can do yesterday, but why not see what else we can do, accomplish, co-create with God and make happen?
Our lives are meant to stretch each day to be more filled with Spirit than the day before, and they can, because there is no limit to Spirit’s appearance and action in our lives.
We don’t know ALL that we can do, but God knows. God will show us new life, new hope and new possibility if we are open to receiving it. Let today be one for the record books, and then know that tomorrow can be even greater. God will assist you. Why? Because that is what God does.
Affirmation: “Spirit/God reveals new life, new hope and new possibility for me each and every day.”
