For I, the Lord God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Do not fear, I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13

If we trust that God is holding our hand, and leading us confidently to each new thing that we do, why so often do we become afraid and wonder if we are out there all alone in the raging waters?

Scripture reminds us repeatedly that the indwelling Spirit is our constant companion. The indwelling Spirit is that flicker of light at our very core. The indwelling Spirit is that beating of our heart. The indwelling Spirit is always as close as our very next thought. We are not alone, for the kingdom of God is at hand.

We have the mistaken idea that we heal from someplace way out there. That our good, our dreams, our desires, our blessings and our miracles come from some place way far away and foreign to us. We look up to the heavens as if that is where we can find God. Far away, removed and a complete mystery. Not so. The indwelling Spirit is our constant companion. The indwelling Spirit is that place where we can recognize, in thought, the Divine Presence born within us at creation. This Perfect Spirit forever awaits our recognition of It.

Even in the face of difficult circumstances, Spirit does not fail. We can affirm that we receive wisdom and guidance through divine ideas. We can affirm that we receive strength and energy through the power of Spirit within us, a spirit that is right where we are. We can affirm that we are fully supported by a God who loves us unconditionally and desires that we live productive and abundant lives. In faith, we can experience peace and possibility in our life. A minister friend of mind sent out an affirmation recently in her daily email saying; “Your very life is an answered prayer.” I loved this. The cycle of Spirit moves through our lives to reveal still more of God’s love and it is that constant force of truth that is waiting for us to affirm Its power in our lives.

So do not fear, God is indeed holding your right hand.

Affirmation: “Guided by the divine light within, I choose to experience the indwelling Spirit of God as my constant companion.”
